MIKE URBAN WD Facelift

MIKE URBAN WD - Face Lift

The MIKE URBAN software development project, known as WD Facelift, was initiated in 2008. It focuses on improving the Water Distribution Module of MIKE URBAN.

The development includes many general features as well as missing MIKE NET features, which not previously were implemented in MIKE URBAN. Numerous features have been developed this year, and we will continue to describe these in more detail in the coming issues of the newsletter.

MIKE URBAN WD 2009 brings you most of it
Version 2009 of MIKE URBAN WD includes:

  • Pressure zone mapping: automatic mapping of zones based on the connectivity and network separator rules
  • Results tables: better functionality including statistics
  • Save animation to AVI file: export result animation into AVI files
  • Display link flow Q-H plots: head-flow plots for any link
  • Display and animate pump operating point:
  • Display fire hydrant Q-H plots:
  • Merge selected pipes: easy way of network simplification
  • Duplicate pipe attributes: fast gap-filling of network attributes
  • Export maps to DXF files: complete export of network and results layers into DXF files including decomposition into numerous layers
  • Display graph for cyclic profiles: graphs for cyclic profiles i.e. compositions of various diurnal patterns
  • Project information: detailed information on network elements, system demands, tanks, pumps, pump energy
  • Define number of decimals for results mapping: define decimals for result plotting
  • Results colour coding and mapping improvements: improved functionality of result layers including working with colour legends and automatic reloading of colour coding schemes

What will come next?
Version 2010 of MIKE URBAN will include these remaining features:

  • Scenario flags for network editors
  • Analysing remaining network capacity
  • Modelling pressure dependent demands
  • Modelling of intermittent water supply
  • Hydraulic reliability of water supply and distribution systems

We hope that these improvements and further developments will help you start using MIKE URBAN more efficiently and/or to conclude your transition into MIKE URBAN from MIKE NET.
