DHI have over forty years of worldwide experience in coastal modeling. During this time we have continually developed and improved our modeling software to provide a sound scientific basis for our consultancy services.
MIKE 21 model is our standard 2D hydrodynamic model used to predict tidal flows, storm surge and tsunami impacts, wave- driven flows and oceanographic circulation.
MIKE 3 is a three-dimensional model, and can simulate vertical movement and variations in the water column, such as stratification and buoyancy flows. Additional modules are used seamlessly with the hydrodynamic engines to simulate advection/dispersion, sediment transport, waves, water quality, ecology etc.
DHI's coastal modeling team provides consultancy services in the following areas:
-
Coastal hazards and inundation, including tsunami risk assessments
-
Port and harbour design
-
Wave modeling and runup
-
Outfalls and plume dynamics
-
Beach processes and littoral transport
-
Aquaculture impacts and productivity
-
Water quality, ecology and chemistry
